Just Frenzy!

14 August 2025 Past

Replay Bar, Hobart

The ever-popular Flip Frenzy format was back at Replay Bar last Thursday night, with players diving straight into fast-paced, back-to-back head-to-head matches. The goal? Play as many games as possible before the clock runs out, racking up wins to climb the scoreboard. Each win earns you +1 point, while each loss takes you -1 point. After each game, you re-enter the queue to be paired with a new opponent.

There's strategy in how many games you play. If you think you can't catch another player's score, you might be better off conceding a game to fit in one more before the timer ends. Conversely, if you have a big lead, you might deliberately drain out quickly to move on—though that comes with the risk of your opponent pulling off a surprise win! Do you take the risk to squeeze in more games?

Josh came within a whisker of a flawless victory, dropping just one game—thanks to an epic comeback from ACE on Iron Maiden, turning ~2M into over 200M on ball 3 to steal the win. Nicely done, ACE! 😀

🏆 Prizes were picked in order of finish, with the top 4 choosing before passing it on:

  • A Stern Pinball Translite (thanks to our amazing sponsor, Stern Pinball!)

  • One of three boxes of gourmet doughnuts from Circle of Life Doughnut Co 🍩

  • TAPP T-Shirt

The remaining prize went to John Moody as the wooden spoon winner—because it counts to turn up!

🙏 Big thanks to Replay Bar for hosting us in their awesome space and for their improved machine layout, which gave us more room and made it easier to watch the action over players' shoulders. And thanks again to Stern Pinball for their continued support and prize sponsorship.

We'll see you at the next one—check the image in our last post for upcoming dates, and keep flipping!

Get ready for an intense Flip Frenzy only tournament. ~3.5 hours of non-stop, head-to-head pinball action. No finals this week, just as many games and wins as you can squeeze in before the timer runs out. It’s fast, fun, and a great way to sharpen your skills.

Entry is $10 (cash), but it’s free for first-time players, and as always, newcomers are welcome. The event is IFPA-endorsed, so you’ll earn WPPR points toward your ranking.
